Something about Poland!



Poland, especially after 1989 and joining of the European Union on 2004, became a place frequently visited by tourists. Most tourist attractions in Poland are connected with natural environment, historic sites and cultural events.





Poland offers a huge amount for travellers of all stripes - from the wild scenery of its mountainous south, with its great skiing and hiking, to the stunning Old Towns of Cracow, Zamość and Gdańsk and the wilderness of the Białowieża National Park and the Great Masurian Lakes in the country's north.


A pearl of nature renowned throughout Europe is the Puszcza Bialowieska – the last natural lowland forest on the continent, honoured with entries on both the List of Biosphere Reserves and the UNESCO list.

Poland officially has a total of 887 towns. The largest is Warsaw Krakow, the historic capital of the kings who resided at the Wawel castle, is today Poland’s cultural and entertainment Centre.

Language: Polish is spoken by 50 million people and is part of the western branch of Slavic languages, and belongs to the Indo-European family.

How to travel?
Most major Polish cities have airports with connecting services with the Frederic Chopin International Airport in Warsaw. Intercity travel includes the PKP's Intercity train, Przewozy Regionalne, local trains and PKS's overland bus coach services.
